Off-Topic Discussion

Here's a tribute to some of the pets of the Blacklist Support Group family. On these pages where we discuss almost anything except The Blacklist, we talk a lot about our furry loved ones. If you'd like to add your pet(s), email your photos to Chompstick@yahoo.com.

1.  Bumble Puppy and Schroeder - Chompstick
2.  Dunkin Donut - Tabasko
3.  Lily* - Honey West
4.  Sugar - Tabasko
5.  Bear - Pamnation
6.  Bugaboo - Chompstick
7.  Pickles* - Tabasko
8.  Jonny - Charmed
9.  Large Marge - Tabasko (geez, this girl has a herd!)
10.  Snoopy* and Woodstock* - Chompstick
11.  Bear, again!
12.  Zack and Ziva - One Paul
13.  Sadie - deadskie13
14.  SnuggleBug - Chompstick

18.  Frito the Bandito - Tabasko
19.  Keeli - Charmed (Poor Keeli, Bear hogged her spot above.) (Alright, it's totally unfair for me to blame Bear for my mistake. I'm sure Bear is a darling!)

*  Sadly, these are pets who have already passed on.

I apologize for photos that are cut off, particularly One Paul and BL Mom. I did the best I could.

No politics? I'm VERY disappointed because I was reallyreally looking forward to inciting a vast herd of voters for the "Mr. Kaplan For President" campaign! :D

misssissy said...

Well, only politics for The Blacklist folks...;>)

Continuing my clumsiness, I'm probably the only person alive who went to throw a ball to her dog and instead, hit herself in the head with the ball.

Charmed said...

This area will be heavenly this summer, although don't expect any fun, exciting, drama on my end.

fangirl said...

Chomps I'm just glad you didn't hit yourself in the head with the DOG! lol!

Chompstick said...

fangirl, I've had that happen with the dog. He hit my head and knocked three teeth out.

So this is where I say hi??

Just landed on the east coast of Canada people are so friendly here. Canadians in general are stereotyped as a polite, friendly group living in igloos. But really, the east coast people have a permanent supply of friendly pills.

I'm waiting for my shuttle to the hotel.

See...aren't y'all happy there is an off topic discussion thread so the more serious posts ardnt distracted by my big wave

Ha ha ha just having fun!

Chompstick said...

Yeah I've heard about some of those Canadian igloos.

Hello Chompstick and the rest of the gang! This is one of the nicest sights I have been to. I love the organization and how you went to great lengths to satisfy everyone's needs. You are a Rock Star in my book! I know this had to have taken a lot of time and energy and I for one want you to know that it is greatly appreciated!

I am very busy at work and need to stay focused during training so I won't be posting much but I definitely will be dropping in to read all the posts.

Fangirl.....mark me down for 1 vote for Mr. Kaplan for President. LOL! I love it!

Chompstick said...

Thanks, Fergy. That means a lot. If you're able to email me I'd like to ask you a question. Chompstick@yahoo.com

Charmed said...

This is a beautiful site. I'm sure no business has gone into as much attention to detail as you have here, Chompstick. Thanks so much.

Rori said...

Chompstick,
I ask your forgiveness as you have kindly asked me twice to email you. Thank you. I hope you can understand if I keep my communications on the blogs. I can't explain, but seeking pure anonymity, which is part of why I liked the WSJ site and am grateful that you allow for that here.
With all respect and great appreciation. RORI

Chompstick said...

Rori, I'm so sorry, that was really dense of me. Of course I understand and respect your desire for privacy. I'm glad I have the choice to offer anonymity and I hope no one elects to abuse that privilege.

Rori said...

:-) NOT dense at all!! More like thoughtful. Thanks for keeping this site up...I have a feeling you are going to be getting some more peeps over here soon.

Basil said...

Dear Ms. Pavlovich...is that the correct way to address you? Is it "Ms.?" Is it Pavlovich?

I do hope you will come to visit us here at the Blacklist Support Group. We do enjoy your company...and I, personally, have one burning question that I believe only you can answer as your knowledge is so extensive regarding Red.....

Is Red a woman? Thank you very much. Hope to hear from you soon.

KN said...

Thank you for creating this site Chompstick! I watch The Blacklist with my hubby but he has no interest in dissecting every minute of the show with me (plus he talks too much during it so I end up missing things!!!). That's why I love all of you and your insightful comments over at WSJ. I learn so much and enjoy the show more now because of you. I am excited to rewatch the whole season this summer and come here to discuss it! Thanks again Chompstick! And hello and good to see you to everyone else!:)

Basil said...

Welcome KN! We do tend to talk a lot...but we won't be there while you're watching the episodes...so it will only be your husband running interference while you're trying to zero in on the Blacklist. Look forward to hearing more from you during the spring and summer. Take care!

ziji said...

Hey KN

Omg! Sure we love watching the show with hubs but doesn't it drive you nuts when he chats through it.

I love Mr ziji - deeply - but honey, you have commercials you can talk through....can hour save your comments til then. :)

If all else fails...give him a pen and paper

I'm totally kidding, just so you know.

Well, not about the driving me nuts part. But I don't know if i would resort to a pen and paper :)

But my point (and sometimes I do actually have a point) is actually to say hi, welcome KN

Chompstick said...

Hi KN! Welcome. The Blacklist is the one show where I can't stand to have anyone in the same room with me, no kidding. My husband gets home late a lot, so I'll call him before he leaves work to remind him, "If you're not home by 9:50, don't even bother to come near the living room to say hello."

As a rather humorous aside, I'm using a tablet right now so it has autocorrect. I typed in husband incorrectly and it corrected to......HUDSON! I'm not kidding! You know how many times I must have typed Hudson for it to autocorrect the much more common word husband to Hudson?? ROFL

Jane said...

Your autocorrect knows who you REALLY care and think about, Chomp! :)

My husband won't watch T he Blacklist of any show with violence, On Monday night I tell him it's Blacklist time and he leaves. So I watch the show alone on a big TV alone in a dark room. I can totally focus on the show.

Chompstick said...

I hear you. Got to be able to focus. My husband was watching up until Red killed Sam and then he started complaining about Red and I just couldn't have that.

Basil said...

Thank you Fluffy and Chompstick for the lovely greetings on the Home page.

And Fluffy...I promise not to run in the hallways......anymore.

Chompstick said...

Please take a moment to introduce yourselves over on the home page, even if you've been around WSJ for a while. Nothing fancy necessary, just a shout out to yourself.

Rori said...

For the blog nube...can you explain the pop-up box for comments now. Honestly, I am just curious what the utility of the change is??

But on a LIGHTER note...I think this summer we should market the "Reddington Workout Routine" that consists of a lot of kneeling down on the ground and putting hands behind your head. Come to think of it, this could be separately packaged as a meditation program. That position, held for 20 mins with the mantra, "Tegucigalpa."

(:-) It's kinda late here)

ziji said...

Oh I see what you mean rori. This is new. I'm not sure why? There must be a reason....yooooooo hoooooooo...air control to captain chomps......

Chompstick said...

Hi Rori - we changed the comment page format primarily because it eliminates the option for replying to individual comments rather than commenting to the blog as a whole. The reply button is appealing but it will quickly beome problematic if folks don't read the FAQ page that requests comments be made how I just outlined.

The problem with reply comments is that that stay higher up the page, not at the bottom, so most people will not see them. It interupts the flow of a discussion because comments won't appear in chronological order.

Therefore, we're giving this format a try, even though users might initially feel that they prefer the former format.

ziji said...

Cap't chomps and fluffy.....I love - love your bios!! I will post something soon.

In the meantime....ummmm fluffy, i am absolutely supportive of "creating a culture of kindness" here, but can I at least skip in the halls??

Basil said...

Pssst....Ziji.....I don't see Fluffy anwhere.....

Come on...I'll race you to the end of the hallway...you can skip if you want to, but I'm running! GO!!!!!!!!!!!

Basil said...

Rori....I'm trying out the "Reddington Workout ROutine. I got down ok, but now I can't get up.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Turbolift?

CES2 said...

Trying again

Chompstick said...

CES2, you're here!! About an hour ago I got my URL changed to www.blacklistsupportgroup.com (without the blogspot) because it should let you bypass the country specific redirect with google. The old URL with blogspot will still work for anyone else who may have it bookmarked. Again, I'm so happy you're here. You like it?

CES2 said...

I'm one of us ( with the apologies to Danny deVito) again.

Tried the link ziji posted today on wsj works a treat for me :)

Felt very lonely not being able to talk to you guys,

Love everything about this site , see you soon at Berlin discussion

Chompstick said...

CES2, I wasn't going to give up. It felt really wrong leaving you behind. Redrav was having trouble, too, so hopefully this will work for her. When do you watch the show? Wednesday?

ziji said...

Imams soooooo excited you're here!!

Chomps, thank you chomps thank you chomps thank you! For finding a way for CES2 over!!!

CES2 said...

Thank you Chompstick. This link straight to US site works for me , hopefully will work for RedRav too.
ziji thank you for your welcome.

I posted links to some new spoilers yesterday.

Charmed said...

CES2, I would never want you to be lonely for us. I'm so glad You and Redravenous are here. You're my friends. Chomps and Fluffy do great work, don't they.

Charmed said...

CES2, I have a personal question and it doesn't matter how you answer to me. Are you male or female or don't want to divulge privileged information that really could benefit you and us? Not just curious. Thanks.

ziji said...

My money is on CES2 being female.

I have no idea why you are asking charmed, but I just wanted in the game. :)

Basil said...

And now, for a slightly different change of pace...

I was reading a review of the none too cheery new report on climate change and came across this juicy little tidbit:

"Walruses may abandon the ice and come to land, where stampedes can occur"

Walrus stampedes?

Chompstick said...

What?? How fast can they waddle? Now this is a good topic.

Chompstick said...

How come they're not called walri for plural? And how come some people say how come instead of why?

Basil said...

*********Walri Spoler Alert*******
Chomps...this is no time for kidding around....I am nonplused at this turn of events and have therefore dedicated myself to expanding my awareness of this appalling new trend. Hence the following link and a quote from said link:

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/22260892/ns/us_news-environment/t/walruses-die-stampedes-tied-climate/

"It was a pretty sobering year — tough on walruses," said Joel Garlach-Miller, a walrus expert for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

fangirl said...

omg you guys are cracking up here ... the walruses ... walri? .... it's so tragic ... why am I laughing ... omg

Basil said...

While you all know that I do enjoy a fair amount of silliness, I would like to say....and I'm serious here....that I am aware (now)that walrus stampedes are a real thing and they are devastating. Walruses die or get injured in them. Apparently they panic and can move fast in 'herds" of thousands. They are capable of moving on land using all four flippers....and can run as fast as a man or so I am told. Often, it's the youngest that get trampled and it isn't pretty. And it is due to climate change.

So, silliness aside for the moment, I want to assure everyone that I am not being insensitive here (nor am I suggesting that Chomps is insensitive) to the true plight of these animals. Truth is, it disturbs me greatly.

It was just the picture in my mind of walri stampeding that I found funny. But as I read up about the situation...well...it wasn't quite as funny anymore. OK...back to silliness....

Chompstick said...

I had no idea this was occuring and the article really catches me off guard. It's tragic and heart breaking. As with missing children, sometimes it's only the cute ones that get the media attention. I think all animals are cute, but for most people the walrus story will never have the same impact as one on polar bears or panda bears.

We can discuss serious stuff here, too.

Chompstick said...

Has anyone seen the movie "Little Miss Sunshine"? It's one of my favorite movies. i jsut saw the last 20 minutes on TV.

Charmed said...

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I have the DVD. I have lots of DVDs I haven't watched, because of some plug.
Yeah ziji, I don't know how to fix it either, you mean little jelly bean. Back to movies.

I like Sam Rockwell and think he is way underrated. I want to see Way, Way Back w/mean Steve Carrell and The Seven Psychopaths.

I'm still bummed about my husband not buying me Magic Mike for Christmas a couple of years ago. All the actors are yummy, like Joe Manganiello. Oh well,
my honey will always be hotter to me. He should know that...

Charmed said...

Does anyone remember the song "Walk Away Joe"? It has special memories for me. Tricia Yearwood and Don Henley released the song in November 1992.

http://youtu.be/RCdCuduv0H0

Gordon Ely of the Richmond Times said, "It's not just a great song. It's memorable and only a shade shy of pure poetry. And it will be with us for a long time."

OK, its TRIVIA TIME: who was the male Actor who got his first break in this video?

And I don't Even Care if you had not been born by 1992.
NO CHEATING... please

Chompstick said...

RE: Sam Rockwell

Seven Psychopaths was so much fun. I loved it. Christopher Walken was superb. Let's put it this way, he was the LEAST psychopathic in the movie!

Sam Rockwell is my cousin's wife's cousin.

Did *we* lose Anna altogether? I see her not on WSJ, not here...I don't look at too many other places, since the quality of discussion is not there. Just wondering if anyone knows where that insightful voice went. :-)

Chompstick said...

CES2 - your link works great.

Rori - I think Anna is probably gone. :( She came back for a few days and left again. Definitely our loss.

Charmed said...

Rori- you are right about Anna being insightful. I put a shout out on WSJ for her and a couple of others to come home last night. I really miss the Master of Kind Thoughts and Gentle Whatever's I used to call her. Because she was all those things and more. She was my first blog friend.

Anna, CES2 and I used to hang out on obscure Spoiler pages and have fun researching. I think she would enjoy this site so much more than the other. Plus the fact that we are here too. Right?

SH said...

There a couple of negatives on WSJ right now-"Lukewarm" and someone Louise. Makes me not want to go over there anymore.

Orange said...

Do you guys think moving the show to Thursday 9pm midseason is a good move?

Apparently ABC modified theirs too to match up Scandal against the Blacklist.

Chompstick said...

SH, thats one of the reasons we created this site...a lot of negativity arising over there and a few really volatile users.

No need to go over there! ;) heehee

Chompstick said...

Orange,
I'm not happy with the move at all. I like having my week starting out with The Blacklist. Also, Boston Legal was always getting the shaft and being moved around, and contributed toward them being canceled.

Who has The Blacklist been up against this year?

KN said...

Chompstick, this site is so great! I like reading Jason's recaps and then coming over here to discuss. How do you guys know that it's moving to Thursdays? I must have missed that!

KN said...

And thank you all for the kind welcomes and welcome backs.:)

Charmed said...

Attn: NBC amended the news that The blacklist is moving to Thursdays: saying the move will come Mid-season after a post Super Bowl airing, will then lead the Blacklist to move to Thursdays at 9:00 PM in February.

Blacklist Will Not Move Until February
NBC announced today,
YES!

Charmed said...

Chompstick, I'm not positive about this, but I think I remember Intelligence and Castle on Mondays at 9:00.

Orange, you are right that in 2015 it will be Blacklist vs Scandal and others. Do you have any other favorites?
But that's what is so great about all these electronic devices and On Demand services some of us are lucky enough to enjoy.

Have you shared your introduction with everyone on the home page yet? Ignore the playing kids.

Charmed said...

My pup's feeling better, but she like a baby holding on to a mama's skirt. She has had lots of meds, lots of love and way too much enjoyment of sharing the bed and being carried all over the house and being hand fed.

We may both have a hard time getting back to so-called normal. What is normal, anyway?

Marie said...

Is anyone putting out Season 1 on DVD for us?

Marie said...

Whoever played Jolene is now playing a hostess on the show, "The Black Box". From the Blacklist to The Black Box. She plays another homewrecker!

Charmed said...

Marie, I'm sure the DVD will be arriving well before the new season begins.

Thanks for the information about Jolene. I'm not surprised she is acting as another home wrecker. I think she has that role down pat.

Chompstick said...

I found this precious video of a mother cat who adopts three ducklings. If you like animals, you'll love this.

Cat and Duckling video

Charmed said...

Oh Chompstick,
I just loved this video. So unusual.

I thought it was unusual years ago, when I walked into my bedroom and in the middle of my bed was my dog Chloe being nursed by my son's black kitten.

SAM said...

OMG....How sweet is that...
Thank you Chomp
for
sharing

Chompstick said...

I have a confession....

I buy my toilet paper because of the cute puppy on the package. I'm an advertiser's dream.

Chompstick said...

Charmed, that's amazing about your dog and your son's kitten! Did you take a picture by chance?

LLove said...

Guys!!! I made what I think is a really funny comment over on the Hudson thread days ago and I keep checking back to see if anyone responded...NOTHING! Am I not funny?

Chompstick said...

LLove, I just saw your funny comment over on Hudson and I replied. Everyone single one of us feels that our comments are overlooked sometime or another. It's human nature to be tuned into our own stuff and sometimes overlook other people in the process. And it's slower here on weekends, especially in the nice weather. Imagine that...people want to be outside! But it's clear to me that your contributions all over the support group are being appreciated by others.

Mary said...

Today is my birthday. I know everyone will feel compelled to get me a gift, but really all I ask is for any doubters, you suspend your reasoning and believe that Red is Lizzie's father.

The rest of you that already believe that, jewelry is good. lol

Chompstick said...

Happy Birthday, Mary! I'm open to the possibility that Red is her Daddy, so I guess I'll just take back this cute little blue box from Tiffany.

Mary said...

I lose more earrings that way...lol

Chompstick said...

Oh I think you misunderstood. It was just an empty box.

Marie said...

Chompstick-you are so funny.

Happy Birthday Mary!

Marie said...

I woke up this morning and realized I had a dream(nightmare) about the Stewmaster and he had Hudson in his hotel room. The room was sealed off and I could not get in but saw the lights coming from the room. Seriously. I would NOT ever want to dream about the Stewmaster. That is a nightmare. I was upset.

Chompstick said...

Ugh, Marie, that would be a terrible nightmare. I hated that episode. The Good Samaritan was another one I couldn't watch. I hope you have a better night's sleep tonight.

Mary said...

The only thing worse than a nightmare is an empty Tiffany's box. I should know. lol

Stay positive Marie...Stewmaster is gone for good.

Charmed said...

Happy Birthday Mary!

I know I'm always a day late and a dollar short, so celebrate all week.

Even an empty Tiffany's box would still sell well on eBay guys.
Yeah? Just saying...

Marie said...

I guess talking and thinking about that guy(Stewmaster) went to my subconscious so I drempt(dreamed) about it. That guy gave me the creeps too. But I had to watch. LOL

Chompstick-that cat/duck video is THE cutest (and most remarkable) thing ever! I passed it on to some friends and they thought it was so adorable. Thanks for sharing!

LLove said...

Mary, Happy belated birthday! But I don't think I can get on board with the Red is her dad story unless you throw some twist in there. It just seems to obvious and simple.

Marie, during the Stewmaker episode I kept looking away from the TV and thinking happy thoughts. I totally missed Red's speech about the farmer and I only know it existed bc many of you have mentioned it on here. I've meant to go back and rewatch the episode thinking I would be less skeaved by the Stewmaker knowing that he dies but I have been unable to watch it.

ziji said...

Mary! Happy happy birthday belated and all. Did you get chomps' extra box? Isn't she thoughtful

:) :)

Llove, I understand where you are coming from watching the stewmaker episode. He is creepy. Truth be told, years ago I actually dated a guy who looked like him (minus the welts onhis body) don't tell anyone! And don't hold it against me :)

Did you ever see the movie lord of the rings? He reminds me of Gollum. We were dating g when those movies came out. Yuck!!!

Anyway, it is worth another look at the episode llove just to hear the farmer story.

Chompstick said...

Ziji dear, why pray tell would you admit to us that you dated someone who looks like a guy so repulsive we all had to cover our eyes and hold a barf bag in our hand just in case?

Charmed said...

ziji, you must have really wanted to see that movie. Was it one of those "dress like a character" thingies? Gollum must have had something going for him, good personality, good sense of humour...

The Stewmaker was recorded and I watched it, I was so freaked out at the end, I automatically hit delete. So except for Weatherman Interuptions straight through 3/4 of one show and The Stewmaker, I have them all on my DVR.

ziji said...

I know, crazy eh?

To this day, I still look back on "Joe" and all I see is the stewmaker

I was young. It was a long time ago.

But maybe he doesn't actually look like that in real life.

Nope, I actually still stand by my earlier comment.
He's actually some hot shot here in Canada now. But every time I see him, I still think of Gollum - and now the stewmaker.

Oh crap! Which thread are we in. Is this off topics??. If so, we are safe.

ziji said...

Well now just curious if I am remembering my ex fairly......it was ten years ago, after all.

I'm going to Google him...

ziji said...

So it's a split vote.....I found a pic of my ex on line....sent it to two friends. Both thought he looked like Gollum. One though he looked like the stewmaker. One didn't.

But llove....I have completely completely digressed. My entire point is that I can totally understand why you didn't want to revisit that episode. But the farmer story really is quite something!!!

ziji said...

I probably shouldn't have admitted any of this, eh :)

Geese, my mouth gets me in so much trouble in person. And now, on line too

Chompstick said...

Seriously, ziji, do you type with your big toes? You make the worst typos!

ziji said...

My thumbs!

I type with my flippen thumbs.

And on a tablet with autocorrect!!!

Deal with it chomps babe!

Eat your saltine crackers and set up your lawn chair so you can watch the Winnebago of beetles go by...and....well...just deal with it

:)

But it is ironic. Naike lives in Europe and English isn't her first language. I actually took typing in high school and have my university degree in English.

Betcha enjoy naikes posts more than mine, eh

Marie said...

You type with your thumbs? That's funny. And hard to do!

LLove-maybe someone can find you what Red says without you having to watch the Stewmaker episode.

Chompstick-do you have Red's "farmer" speech somewhere? I know it is online somewhere but I forget where.

thanks

ziji said...

Marie!!

My beautiful Marie!

Yes! I type with my thumbs. I type on a tablet and I type with my thumbs.

cue the violins! It IS hard. And it takes ages to type a post. But I like this site and I like y'all. So I Suck up my challenges and do the best I can!

Everything I do is for you chomps (the violins have just increased in volume - and now I have the back of my hand attached to my forehead, with tears In my eyes ad my voice threatening to cry)

Sigh!

Marie - LLove -

A farmer comes home one day to find that everything that gives meaning to his life is gone.
Crops are burned, animals slaughtered, bodies and broken pieces of his life strewn about.
Everything that he loved, taken from him.
His children.
One can only imagine the pit of despair, the hours of job-like lamentations, the burden of existence.
He makes a promise to himself in those dark hours.
A life's work erupts from his knotted mind.
Years go by.
His suffering becomes complicated.
One day he stops.
The farmer, who is no longer a farmer sees the wreckage he's left in his wake.
It is now he who burns.
It is he who slaughters.
And he knows, in his heart he must pay.

SAM on behalf of my beautiful Marie and llove, I would like to thank you for posting the farmer speech.

Chomps, until you apologize for your typo comment t-shirts and rectify my very hurt feeling feelings, I am not talking to you!

Except if you have cookies

ziji said...

Ignore the t-shirts word in my post above that was a typo.

I am holding my head high as Marie and I wait for our cookies

Chompstick said...

You want me to apologize for a typo comment in a comment that T-shirts accidentally appears in?? Piece.of.work.

I'll share my homemade chocolate chips with Marie and LLove. Sam can have one macaroon from the supermarket bakery. And you can have the month-old tofu oregano oatmeal bar from the airport vending machine.

SAM said...

Your very welcome Marie & LLove

Chompstick, Yes, she did ask you and I'm sorry you feel offended but lets face it, we both know you have been preoccupied in the snuggle, cuddle business and seem to lose track of time. I just figured - why make LLove wait for what might turn into days or weeks, when I could help her now.

SAM said...

Chompstick, check your e mail. If I could I would put photo one at the end of my above post for you.

ziji said...

Chomps, I think you are under the mistaken belief that I like month old, tofu oregano oatmeal bars.

Please accept my humble apology for any misunderstanding.

So to assist you chomps, I have actually gone through the trouble of finding a recipe for macadamia nut cookies

Pleas feel free to make some for love, , beautiful Marie, SAM and of course me

Ladies, please feel free to advise if you would prefer another kind of cookie

ziji said...

Well chomps, SAM has you there!

You have been busy in the snuggles/cuddles department.

Priorities SAM!

Snuggles/cuddles....yummy....now I would honestly give my share of the macadamia nut cookies to anyone who wants them if I have just one more Roush of the snooze button with dembe and little dembe (that's the dog, for those of you who weren't following our discussion on the Hudson thread.)

Chompstick said...

Get it together, z. What the --- is a Roush of the snooze button????? Do you expect us all to be fluent in gibberish?

I miss Fergy and Rori and CES2 and Redrav and Fluffy. :(

Chompstick said...

I just put up a new post on the home page.

ziji said...

One more push of the snooze button

You don't speak gibberish????? Too bad, it's actually a pretty fun language. And our culture is even better. Not only does our culture involve cuddles and snuggles...but silliness is a must, a willingness to put yourself out there - even if you fall flat on your ass is encouraged, community and friendship is expected, we allow each other to be who we are, exactly as we are. We back each other, we argue with each other, we enjoy each other, we adore each other...even when we don't.

It's the gibberish culture. And I'm proud to be a part of it :)

chomps asked (

How the heck did we get by without an off-topic forum before?)

We didn't. We just pissed people off. I(am i allowed to say that??) I think you and SAM got in trouble. Or maybe it was you and charmed. I think rori was in there too. I perhaps was egging you on

But chomps...guess who the common denominator was??

Chompstick said...

So now you know the real reason I started BSG! Yeah, yeah, your a Gibber and apparently I'm a Denominator. We're a good culture too. We love animals but we don't eat them. We love people but we don't eat them. We love CuteTom but we don't eat him, either. We love homemade chocolate chip cookies and we do eat them. We don't like month-old tofu oregano oatmeal airport vending machine bars and we don't eat them.

A game of sorts ~ tell us 5 random things about yourself.

1, The Love Boat used to be my favorite TV show.

2. My brothers and I once fed our babysitter dry cat food.

3. In college I convinced my dorm-mates that I had a disease where I spontaneously mooed like a cow. Everyone believed it and I never told them the truth. For a year I mooed several times a day.

4. I am OCD about Scrabble tiles. I can only play with the deluxe board that has ridges between the spaces.

5. I get motion sickness when I grocery shop.

No one was ever accused be of being normal.

Basil said...

Well, Chomps...and all....I don't know if I am ready to reveal five things about me....but I will share that I almost got as carried away with the movie Mulholland Drive as I do the show Blacklist.

And Chomps...do tell us more about your getting motion sickness when you grocery shop...Basil is intrigued....most intrigued!

Hey everyone, we are Not Sticks In The Mud. So, Let's play this new game Chomps has chosen.

1. When I was young people often asked about my heritage- what kind of Indian? I told them Aztec.

2. My mama would ask me to dance for visitors. I was always so embarrassed. Let me add I was over 21. My mom loves a good laugh.

3. I managed to leave school early twice, by eating Pepto Bismol tablets. They turned my tongue a funny color. Hey, it worked!

4. I was in a hospital once and when I cried, the nurses sent me a basket of flowers with balloons and lollipops!

5. Over the years at work, when meeting people from out of state, they would ask "You aren't from around here, are you?" Giggles...

Marie said...

Sam-Thanks for posting "the Farmer" speech for LLove and me.

Chompstick-your new game is funny.

I will bite for only two:

(1)I tried Milkbone dog biscuits as a kid because we wanted to know how they tasted for our dog. LOL - I am related to Hudson!
(2) People always ask me if I play basketball. Why? Because I am 6 foot 1. Female. And "No, I don't."

SAM said...

I'll play, here's a few for you...

1) I bought a large, old, cracked yellow, ugly but interesting planter at a yard sale for $2.00 then a year later resold it at auction for over 5 thousand!

2) My first concert was Frankie Avalon. Tickets were $6.00!

3) I once was a go-go girl.

4) I don't cook the traditional turkey on Thanksgiving, we have baked penguin.

Basil is back! Basil is back! Yoo hoo everyone, basil is back

Have you met SAM and Marie and llove and Mary? Mary just had a birthday.

Chomps is making US all macadamia nut cookies. We are expensing the cost of the air flights to Red. His private plane is getting cleaned.

I haven't yet gone into the "serious" rooms in awhile. I've been hanging out here and with Hudson.....we get cookies here!

Chompstick said...

SAM - those can't all be true. You don't eat a penguin!!!

Chompstick said...

Basil - I finally have a recent comments sidebar for you. It doesn't say what page they're on though. Not possible with the non-traditional way I designed the blog.

We happen to like Penguin! So what's the big deal?

Chompstick said...

SPAM,

2. Five large for a cracked yellow planter? Come on, only orange ones go for that much.
3. I'm not even going to touch the go go dancer one!!! Those three words give me enough material for a year.

Moo.

Charmed said...

Marie- Those MilkBone dog biscuits weren't too bad were they? But homemade ones are much better.

My mom had a huge black dog that loved the kids so much. But he loved cookies more. He would bring the toddlers a dog biscuit and then remove their cookie from their other hand. My son and niece seemed to consider it a fair trade.

I always wished I was taller.

3.. I didn't speak til I was 4. my folks sent me to speech therapy. no wonder I speak gibberish now

4. I once shaved my head to raise money for cancer. We got 10K! but it was October - in Canada. i didn't think that one through. It was a very cold winter

5. I lost 2 cars because I forgot to change the oil. you would have thought I'd have learned with the first one. Now, I drive my fun white beetle bug and I change the oil almost every 3,000.

Please tell your son I like his thoughts, What a great Idea! I'll bet they would sell, I for one could use one. In the summer I would face the yellow half forward - then at Christmas, I would turn it so the red half would show. My home decor plant problem would be solved. Good job my young friend.

Chompstick said...

Thank you, SAM. He's quite the smartypants.

He was among the youngest children ever accepted into MENSA when he was 2. He was invited to speak at the TED conference last October but had to decline since he was still in Val d'Isère after winning the World Championship gold medal in freestyle alpine skiing. That switch corked 720 really gave him the edge over the Canadian.

Of course, he had to cut the book signing short for his first memoir: From Cradle to College in 6 Years. Cannes was debuting his first independent film documentary about elephants in Kruger National Park.

We're so proud of him. Tomorrow we have to drop him off at the airport. He's been instrumental in creating a youth branch of the Peace Corps. He's reporting for his first assignment in Peru where he will be leading others in constructing the fresh water infrastructure he designed. It's a good placement for him since this small village has no doctors and he just completed his residency in internal medicine.

What's really exciting for him is that he'll be flying on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, for which he designed the automatic flight control system. That was in 2011, right after he received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. Long flight, Oslo to Seattle, but he said it wasn't too bad since he got to pass the time teaching chess seminars to other passengers. It's interesting because the Yale chess team was on the flight and was able to learn quite a bit from my son. In fact, they beat Harvard in the Ivy Championship for the first time in 173 years.

But that's all just for fun. For work, he just completed building the world's largest Lego hamster at 154 feet tall. He designed and built an elevator for it so visitors can enjoy the view of the Mediterranean.

Chompstick,

Thank you for sharing. You must be so thankful he takes after his father.

SAM, ThickasaBrick University Online offers a remedial course in home decor plant problems called:

Reformatory Planning for Interior Flora
Course: 101
Professor: Rhoda Dendron
Ms. Dendron is a third year professor who studied under the tutelage of Professor Junior Chompstick, the world-renowned child prodigy, expert in nearly everything.
Prerequisite: Brain
Course Description: This introductory class teaches beginners how to arrange house plants and solve leafy problems within one's home. Hands-on experimentation will include rotating containers seasonally, and determining what colors work best in different seasons. This course is ideal for feeble-minded individuals who have no hope of ever obtaining stellar intellect.

SAM said...

To Whom it may concern,

Yes, I'm the guilty party that posted as anonymous . The first time I played the game (thinking everyone was welcome to play) of random things about myself, my list was met with a cruel backlash of negativity. My holiday tradition, career choice, pot collection & even my user name was being ridiculed. Openly sharing and then being rudely criticized lead me to feel somewhat depressed. If you look back I did say "I'll play, here's a FEW for you". After regrouping a bit I decided to forget my hurt feelings & move on. Dressed in my Wonder Woman Underoos with matching top, boots, wrist bands, headband & wig I bravely set forth to once again participate in the evening event. After I compiled my new list I suddenly became fearful that these might also be attacked. I felt it best to post as anonymous. I do apologize for breaking the rules.

Anyway, sorry for the repeat posts.

But SAM, I stand by my words - you are just a riot!

I know this is super friendly banter during the summer hiatus - which really does allow for our most creative and silly sides.

Can you imagine anyone joining us for the first time??? And seeing chomps and SAM going at it, me (almost) proposing to beautiful Marie, and chubster being saved by some miracle energy force.

We are all a little looney!

Did y'all know that Canada has a dollar coin called the "looney". It has a pic of a loon on it

So me, I come by my loonieness naturally. I'm the crazy Canadian looney. But I think the rest of you forgot to take your meds this week :)

At least basil and naike are trying to post serious business!

Charmed said...

Hey SAM- with your Fun personality, would you rather we pick on you or ignore your posts? I think I need to take comedy classes from you or Chomps. No one gets what I say. They're confused...Can you help me out SAM?

It doesn't hurt as much with ziji, somehow...

Ziji said...

Oh crap. I did it again

Oh Charmed....my computer geek friend....how do you make the posts only go once?

Oh wait. Patience maybe. So maybe I should just wait a second or three before I hit the submit button again

:)

Ziji said...

Charmed, I honestly think you are lovely! I have even told mr ziji about how lovely you are. (True)

But sweetheart, people are confused by your posts because, well, you are confusing. You are like the marvellous mystery woman.

For me, The worst time to read a post from you is when I get up to pee in the middle of the night. I just sit there and allow my mind to be completely confused

But here's the rub charmed. I Adore You! So you can be as silly as you want. You have a lot of space to be....well...spacey

:). Big grin

Ziji said...

And just so we are clear ms spacey girl, I actually don't think you are spacey at all

I actually think you are "bang on" in your assessments of things

I just like to say the word spacey

Chompstick said...

ziji, please, no one needs a visual of you peeing in the middle of the night!

Ziji said...

Oh my goodness

I just logged back in to delete my post about charmed being spacy and confusing because ...well I didn't mean it

Although I did mean that I adore charmed and have even told mr Ziji how charming charmed is

But now I've started a peeing post.

But I'm old. Im going to be 44 next week. My bladder doesn't make through the night anymore.

So I won't delete my posts. Instead, I will tell y'all that I just yelled out loud In The park (I'm currently walking my dog in the park)

Anyway, I yelled out loud "charmed is lovely. She's not spacey"

I am telling the absolute truth. I did just yell it out loud. Top of my lungs too.

The fact that nobody is in the park except for two little kids is irrelevant.

Charmed said...

Great job, ziji. Between you and me, we seem to have scared everyone away from the off topic page.
We need to find more people to play the game.

1. I used to rock myself to sleep each night with my foot against the headboard.
2. I've tried popped corn with bacon from a specialty shop
3. I'm going to try chocolate bacon cupcakes
4. I love anticipation, probably most of all
5. Favorite gift, set of knives from my son-age 15
6. I'm not a vegi whatever-ian. Who could have guessed?

....................

There's a Disney tv show that I watch with my son about a talking dog. He's always searching for a bacon wrapped cat. It's my favorite line ever. Visualize it...It's just so funny!

SAM said...

Charmed,
Your list of 5 random thing caught my eye and I found it quit strange actually. I couldn't help but notice you referred not once but twice about bacon. Then said you were not a vega whatever-ian which indicates to me the strong possibility that more bacon might be involved. Your friend Marie commented back about her love of bacon also, shortly followed by Miss Ziji's comment about bacon making everything better. All this talk about bacon makes me realize I may have been wrong on who was actually involved ...

from Hudso's page..May 8, 7:06pm

"When he was in the closet, Bad/Tom was feeding him pounds and pounds of bacon to keep him from barking and waking Liz up. Tom was sneaking out night after night to meet up with Gina, Jolene & Nicki. Before Tom would leave, bacon, when he got home, more bacon. Chubster was afraid and ate the bacon for comfort. He tried to resist but the bacon kept arriving. There was no room to exercise. When Tom finally left for good, so did the bacon!"

So now ladies, Your little party is over. It's time to come clean and start talking.....Who was the supplier of the bacon? I know you're all somehow involved in this. How long have you been double agents & what's your connection to Was/Tom and Berlin? Who's idea was it to feed the bacon to Chubster? Were all of you having an affair with Was/Tom?

And Miss Ziji, I hope your story is a good one because if not your days of "snuggling & cuddling with my son Dembe will be over!

Welcome Flora! So glad you found us here. I think you'll really like it. Currently, our "serious" Blacklist discussion is primarily on the General Discussion page, but there's not a lot going on now that the show is on break. Otherwise, we're on this page being silly. And bickering is just pretend. The other page is Hudson Where Are You?

If you haven't had a chance, take a few moments to read the FAQ page. Again, glad you're here!!

fangirl said...

BSG will save us from an otherwise Reddingtonless summer!

You are all (ok,not all, just MOST of you) are so amazingly funny, talented writers and thinkers!

Also, one of you is the most entertaining speller (yeah, you know who you are, dearie)

Oh Sam when I saw the word babushka I was so happy because I thought the Pavlovich brothers' mother, Olga, had come to play. sigh. But it's ok, because you have babushkas and seem slightly less ominous than the Pavlovich brothers' mother.

Now, what's all this about penguins and bacon-wrapped cats?! Good Gourd! Here I am trying reallyreally hard to be a proper herbivore and not think about the deliciousness of flightless fowls and the yumminess of hirsute felines ensconced in thin strips of porcine tummies.

Temptations abound. Which makes it difficult to juggle a thesaurus and a dictionary AND inspirational critter-friendly tomes such as "Everything You Wanted To Know About Boiled Turnips But Were Terrified To Ask".

I did come up with a list of the 5 random things but I was so hungry that I ate my own homework. Does this mean I have to stay after for detention?

Chompstick said...

Fangirl, we missed you! You're funnier than all of us combined, especially SAM.

You're not a herbivore, are you? I guess you don't know that it was me who wrote the turnip opus under a pseudonym, Ricardo Rootabagel. I've just finished a second reference work, The Encyclopedic History of the Kohlrabi Bulb in Norse Cuisine. Shall I send you an advance copy?

Marie said...

Isn't peanut butter and bacon supposed to be good too? Wait, let me go warm up the frying pan..........Charmed, you want a PB&B sandwich? How about with banana too?

Chompstick said...

I eat PB & banana in toast quite often. Yum. I met someone recently who eats PB & mayonnaise. I hope I'm not insulting anyone, but that does not appeal to me (That was me being polite, I feel quite a bit stronger about that combo.)

Do you know they make vegetarian bacon? It's called fakin. I imagine dogs would not appreciate being tricked with fakin wrapped cat.

Chompstick said...

I've posted upcoming JS shows on the Other James Spader Work page

Marie! Love The Prisoner! Was too young to watch it when it aired, but a couple of years ago I really got into it when I discovered the reruns somewhere. SUCH a weird show! Great!

Chomps! er uh I mean Ricardo! omg The Encyclopedic History of the Kohlrabi Bulb in Norse Cuisine will be THE most perfect thing to read while I'm at the beach this summer.

Yes please send me an advance copy. I did tell you I'm going to be at the beach this summer, right? At least, the brochures SAID it's a beach. Hubby remains skeptical.

Marie said...

Fangirl-Glad you loved "The Prisoner". I bought the box set of CDs. Patrick McGooghan was an awesome actor. Yes, it was a very intense and strange show. I think ahead of its time.

Charmed said...

SAM, Have you seen the Price of Bacon lately... I was not the one feeding it to Hudson. I did not procure the Bacon for Tom (good or bad) to feed Hudson. It must have been someone wealthy, living in a hog farm community, possibly in the state of Kentucky. Two things I love and don't feed to dogs are Bacon and Chocolate. Notice the caps. Ha!

As for ziji, Marie and even fangirl, they seemed to "have plans" quite often and came home suspiciously smelling like BLT sandwiches, with a whiff of banana.
So can your son Dembe come play at my house? Your friend, Charmed.

Charmed said...

To Chompstick- Regarding Fakin: There ain't nothing like the real thing, baby.

Chompstick said...

My dogs eat better than I do. They only get the best quality, organic, grain-free food from a small company in Canada. We don't eat that well, for sure.

So I got home from work early tonight (its 9:20 ottawa canada time) and I decided to cook dinner for mr ziji. he's been picking up the lions share lately while I have been just enjoying eating apples.

anyway, he wanted french toast.

I don't cook. seriously. I cook maybe 3 dishes

charmed is a fantasias cook and should give me cooking lessons. But I didn't know if charmed knew how to cook french toast and I had to learn quick

So i googled.

They were THE BEST french toasties that I've ever had. The secret...half and half cream instead of milk. oooh la la

I had "stuff" - the liquid stuff left over - so I finished the loaf. Can I freeze them? Yes? in zip lock baggies? Or just put them in the fridge.

Oh crap! We had bacon. Oh, I've let y'all down. I didn't make bacon and I LOVE bacon. oh crap. I'm just remembering now. that would have been really good.

Anyway, I'll take freezing french toast for 100 Alex

Marie said...

Ziji-Challah bread I believe is a Jewish bread. You can get it at any store now but a bakery would have it. We have Stop & Shop here in CT and they carry it. It is denser a little sweet. I can't get the link but if you go to www.thefoodnetwork.com and type in stuffed French toast in the search box, all these different recipes come up. I believe it is like the 6th one down-it got 5 stars.(raspberry stuffed French toast)They even have PB and banana French toast.
The Food Network has wonderful recipes. I use it all the time. And some have videos so they show you exactly what to do. It's not hard. Enjoy!
Chomp-you make me laugh. I would like my French Toast in France also!

The theme of cowboys started with a requiems on the good guys page by fangirl. You did an excellent job, but got me to thinking about family tv viewing and cowboys:

"Have Gun-Will Travel" with the gentleman gunman, Richard Boone as "Paladin" was a favorite old Western.

Robert Duvall was great in "Lonesome Dove" and just about anything else. James Garner is another favorite, especially in "Murphy's Romance".

A recent favorite is "Longmire" with Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire. But Sam Elliott also comes to mind. I enjoy his acting and his voice. "Ram Tough". Yeah!

Anyone else want to chime in?

I told you about fakin, but did I mention Chick-un, and Not dogs? We're having not dogs tonight. =)

I noticed BL wasn't on after all. TV Guide/Comcast still shows that it will be on next Saturday 6/7, but who knows.

This thread is going to hit 200 posts soon and go to a second page, so we won't have to page down forever.

----Did you see on the news that photo of the bear in Florida who was laying on the homeowner's hammock?

omg! I would have absolutely had a heart attack and died of fear! Bears bad, zero bears good.

JBiltz and everyone else- Have any of you watched Longmire on A&E, Monday nights at 9/10pm? It's very different from the Blacklist, but it's also a good show. I just thought I would mention it.

I also like Justified. I laughed out loud when JBiltz mentioned they have a pretty good vocabulary on Justified, because it is sooo true.

I really don't want to think about bears after seeing the movie "The Edge" starring Anthony Hopkins. Wow.

I'm adding a few non-comments here to get the comments to hit 200 and flip over to a new page.

I'm getting tired of scrolling down the loooong page of comments.

I've been trying to find a way to make smaller pages, say 50 comments per page, but I haven't figured it out yet. Always a work in progress.
